Hitachi Cable America Inc. Releases First Verified Category 8 Cable in N.A.

Hitachi Cable America Inc., (HCA), a U.S. manufacturer of copper and fiber optic communication cables, is the first cable manufacturer in North America to offer a 3rd party verified Category 8 cable. Verification to the ANSI/TIA 568-C.2-1 standard is provided by Underwriters Laboratories. This same lab also verified this cable to Category 8.2 requirements per IEC 61156-9 for use in Class II applications according to ISO/IEC TR 11801-9901. HCA’s Category 8 (8.2) cable is U.S. made. Category 8 (8.2) cables are tested to 2000 MHz and will support high speed data applications such as 40 Gigabit Ethernet up to 30 meters and can auto-negotiate to support other applications, such as 10 and 25 Gigabit Ethernet. The new cable is also Riser (CMR) rated permitting installation in indoor riser environments.
