Oklahoma couple Jon and Martha Bedingfield are victims of what police are calling an unusual crime.
The two 79-year-olds said they are light sleepers, but they completely slept through a burglar breaking into their home near Memorial Road and Lake Hefner Parkway.
“We were sound asleep,” Jon Bedingfield said.
The couple were the victims of a burglary during the middle of the night last month. They awoke to their dog barking and the door to their garage open.
“We realized somebody had been here,” Martha Bedingfield said.
The Bedingfields discovered jewelry and their wallets with credit cards had been stolen. Police said those cards were used just minutes after the burglary at a northwest Oklahoma City Walmart.
The store’s security cameras captured a group of men accused of using the credit cards.
“We felt violated by the whole thing,” Jon Bedingfield said. “This is my home, my property. It should be secure.”
Police are not completely certain the people in the surveillance images are the ones who broke into the house, but they do want to talk to them for using stolen credit cards.
