The Adrian College men’s soccer team got an overtime goal from freshman Jordan Miler to pick up a 2-1 win Wednesday over Olivet at Docking Stadium in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener for both teams.
The two teams were scoreless in the first half. Mark Proctor gave Adrian (2-2) the lead in the 72nd minute, but Olivet (1-5) got a goal with 18 seconds left to tie it up and send the game into overtime.
Miller’s goal — his first as a Bulldog — capped off a thrilling finish, scoring with just two seconds left in OT.
Adrian goalie Luke Warrick picked up the win, saving two of the three shots he faced.
Adrian will travel to face MIAA foe Kalamazoo on Saturday.
St. Francis (Ind.) 4, Siena Heights 2: At Fort Wayne, Ind., the Saints struggled in the second half of the non-conference contest.
The teams were tied 1-1 at halftime. SHU (0-4) scored first in the second half for a 2-1 lead, but St. Francis (2-2) scored three straight goals to pull away.
Rahbar Kahn had a goal and an assist for the Saints. Justin Gray scored the other SHU goal. Saints goalkeeper Morgen Gardocki finished with one save.
Siena Heights will face Huntington (Ind.) Saturday for another non-league match.
Siena Heights at Rochester: At Rochester Hills, the Saints extended their win streak to nine with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 win in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.
SHU improved to 12-1 overall (2-0 WHAC). Match statistics were not available.
The Saints will host Lawrence Tech for a WHAC matchup Saturday.
Marian (Ind.) 2, Siena Heights 1: At Indianapolis, NAIA No. 22-ranked Marian squeezed past the Saints in non-conference action.
Siena Heights’ goal came when a Marian defender headed the ball into the net off of a Saints crossing pass. The score was 1-1 at halftime, but Marian scored in the 54th minute to pick up the win.
