  • Kerry Jane Wilson, 60, was abducted in Afghanistan in April 2016
  • Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed that she was freed 
  • She thanked the Australian consulate and Afghani authorities for their help

An Australian aid worker who was abducted in Afghanistan in April has been freed.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed Kerry Jane Wilson, 60, is safe and well.

In a statement, Ms Bishop said: ‘I am relieved for Kerry Jane, and her family with whom I have remained in close contact.’
